What is Family Seeing®?
Family Seeing® is a relational practice model co-created by Kevin Campbell and Elizabeth Wendel and developed through Pale Blue Dot Inc.
It is not a generic awareness framework. Family Seeing® is a structured practice for cultivating the quality of attention and seeing that makes relational work genuinely transformative — the practice of truly seeing children, parents, relatives, and communities, and building the relationships that let healing begin.
What Family Seeing® Is Not
A public health campaign
A standalone program separate from relational practice
A technology platform or assessment tool
The Scientific Foundation
Family Seeing® rests on what's known as N.E.A.R. science — Neuroscience, Epigenetics, ACEs, and Resilience.
Neuroscience shows that the developing brain is built through relationships.
Epigenetics shows that experience — connection and its absence alike — shapes how our genes are expressed.
ACEs research links early adversity to lifelong physical and mental health outcomes.
Resilience science points to a single, reliable buffer against all of it: a stable, caring relationship.
Together, these fields converge on one conclusion — belonging is not a soft outcome but a biological need. Family Seeing® is the practice of seeing, and building, the relationships that let a child heal.
Family Seeing® and Family Finding®
Family Seeing® is practiced alongside Family Finding® — the foundational relational practice model developed by Pale Blue Dot Inc. Together, they form a complete approach to connection, belonging, and healing.
